NAAE advocates for AI adoption in Nigeria's aviation industry.
Members of the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) have advocated for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the aviation sector, stating that the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) would significantly benefit from its adoption.
The President of NAAE, Engr. Selzing Miri, assured that there was no cause for concern regarding the implementation of AI in aviation systems.
Miri also highlighted that NAMA's current navigational charges are insufficient to cover the logistics required for the agency's efficient operations. He called on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to consider increasing NAMA's navigation charges to address this issue.
Speaking about the association's upcoming Annual General Meeting and Conference in Abuja, scheduled for November 22, Miri revealed that the theme would be: “The Integration of AI in CNS/ATM Systems and the Economic Implications for the Aviation Industry: The Roles of ATSEPs.” He emphasized NAAE's commitment to leveraging emerging technologies to ensure Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEPs) are well-equipped to perform their roles effectively.
Miri also commended NAMA management for improvements in staff welfare, noting advancements in stability, training, and overall conditions for NAAE members. However, he pointed out that these achievements could have been more substantial if not for the Federal Government’s policy of deducting 50% of the agency's revenue
